Lip Synch Tutorial
During my lip synch tutorial I've Learnt how to line up the recorded song to the video, with the video the teacher provided and put it together with the help of the teachers. The teacher told us, we were not going to be provided with the tripod and have to film the video in handheld. When we start our videos I think I will find the handheld camera one of the hard things to do. I had already knew how to use the program Final Cut Pro, last year when I was editing my thriller movie we had lots of short clips and put them all together whereas on music video we have to record the same thing over and over from different angles. However there were still useful things to learn on how to edit when we actually created our own video. One of the things I've learnt was to use markers, this helped me on cutting the video when there is beat in the music creating a change of scenes in the video.
Analysis of a Music Video "Naive"
Susuana from 283goswell on Vimeo.
This music video "Naive" is edited very effectively and well made. The narrative of the story is easily understandable. We're able to see that the artist really loves the girl in the video, however, when the artist calls to see if they are still meeting, the girl reply "No I can't" we then see her walk to the end of a bridge and meet with some other boy. There were Mis En Scene weaknesses in the beginning of the video clip where we see a Mc Donalds cup behind the girl actor. However the editing covered that mistake, for example, the fade away when she blows her smoke and the scene fades to the artist as if she's blowing it to his face. Furthermore, one other good thing about this video was when video was taken it was hand held, but there were no shakes in the clip it was all steady shooting.
I believe the genre of this music video was indie-pop-rock and the target audience is people who is older teens and I would say people in their 20s. Overall I though this video was a great piece of work. But they still needed a bit of more work on their Mis En Scene

Planning-ideas
The scene from Notting Hill and Kyle Minogue's video for 'I should be so lucky' both have elements of which we can use in our music video.
In Notting Hill the scene where Hugh Grant is walking through the market and the seasons are changing is n idea that we liked. We were thinking to show this change through costume, maybe having her at clothes on throughout the video to show a change in season.
The Kylie Minogue video for 'I should be so lucky' they way she moves from each location and it's edited to seem effortlessly. In our video we will be editing our music video so that it will seem like there is a different location around every corner.

Final song choice with a claer explanation of how your video will differ from te original
As our final song we had choose, Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield.
In the music video Unwritten, the video is mostly shot in a elevator, we see different things happening in the elevator at different times.
So far we had decided to use an idea from the music clip Notting Hill - Ain't No Sunshine. In this clip we see time changes as he walks, we see the seasons changing. We thought we could use the ideas from Notting Hill - Ain't No Sunshine, we are going to use the time changing affect, but this time instead of the seasons changing we would be changing the location as the artist turns the corner.
Audience Task
Our ideal target audiences bag.
The song we have chosen is Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield. Generally the target audience for her songs would be from thirteen to late twenties/thirties. The song reaches out to the female audience then to male audience.
Jenny is a 21 year old women that lives in Camden. She is British and works in fashion design and gets her groceries from Marks & Spencer. In her free time she likes to hang around with her friends. She doesn't read newspapers but likes reading the magazine Elle. She uses a mini cooper to get to work. She doesn't just wear a type of brand, she goes for whats hot now... She shops from H&M, Topshop and Selfridges. Her favorite drink is WKD. She wants to go Spain for holiday this year and she could enjoys these kind of music because she says she could really relate to the lyrics.

Analysis of Student's Video
Susuana from 283goswell on Vimeo.
The student video i chose to analyses was the remake of The Kook's Naive.
I thought overall that the student music video was at a reasonable standard, because the video did have some falls. But the student produce a fairly well music video considering she made the video on her own in one day. What lacked was the clarity of the narrative structure, myself and other's didn't understand what happened in the end until being told. Also the Mise en Scene was poor, in the opening the participant was on the phone and behind her there was a huge MC Donald's cup insite. This made the atmosphere of the video cheap and tacky. That's why i graded the video at a level 3 high 4, which thoughtto be fair considering the minor problems.

Planning
This is the song we have chosen as a group to do for our music video. Our video will differ from the original by making changes. For example, instead of going into a elevator, our artist will be walking on the roads of london. Also in the original every time the door opens in another floor, new scene appears, in ours every time she turns a corner to a new street new scene appears with the artist also wearing different costume.

Andrew Goodwin's Theory
Andrew Goodwin's Theory
Andrew Goodwin identified a number of ley features which distinguish the music video as a form:There is a relationship between the lyrics and the visuals, with the visuals illustrating, amplifying or contradicting the lyrics & the music. He says that music videos are often constructed by the link between the visuals, song plus the artsist. The relations are built between these in the video, and the close-ups of the artists gives them the representation and publicity they require. Also voyeurism is used to increase the video's attractiveness, particularly to males, whilst intertextuality is often employed in humorous videos. In addition intertextual references, either to other music videos or to films and TV texts, these provide further gratification.
Notions of Looking
Most of the time wee see the artists looking directly in the camera, their eyes focused on us. Its like they are talking directly to us, audience. Having a personal connection with the audience.Visual and Lyrics
The words and the scene links with the video. Also as the artsist sings, the words appear on the screen, emphasising what he says.
Characteristics
There is always a female dancer in a music video, this is a common feature in a video. Also we understand what kind of genre it is by the costumes the artists wear and by how they dance.

Research- Vladimir Propp
Vladimir Propp was a Russian and Soviet formalist scholar who analyzed the basic plot components of Russian folk tales to identify their simplest irreducible narrative elements.
His character types are used in media education and can be applied to almost any story, be it in literature, theatre, film, television series, games, etc.
Narrative structure
Functions
These 31 functions form the narrative structure of a story/tale and translates to media when making music videos, the narrative structure sometimes follows a certain structure.
In this video they use the rolls of high school boyfriend and girlfriend to illustrate the lyrics within the song.

Extension Excerise
In our lesson we were shown pass students music videos. The videos varied they were all from different genres allowing us to get an idea of what our videos are suppose to look like. My favourite video was from a Hip Hop video, they chose a Nas song and then made a video for it. The video was black and white with a guy who was portraying Nas. They used a fish eye lens to make it seem as though they were looking a peep whole. The video matched up very well with the actual lyrics and the variety of shots they included made it a great video overall.
