Q.3
Blogger: has brought together a mixture of media technologies that worked on single platform. It allows me to upload video clips, images and insert text etc.
Youtube: has enabled me to watch music video and view comments from the videos. Youtube has also giving access to watch other artist videos to get inspiration for my video. I watched the original version of unwritten on youtube and from watching it i was able to look at ratings, comments etc. We watched the video by Natasha Bedingfield and took elements and concepts from to put into our video. If youtube wasn't around it would have been harder for this to happen.
Final Cut Pro: This software helped me put together our music video, without the software it would have been difficult to make music video. I've learnt how to use the transactions effectively and leant how to edit properly. Tools such as the cutting tool was easier to use as i've used it before. However editing by layering clips was a totally new concept.

How did you use the media technologies in the constructions and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Photoshop : enable me to create an idea from paper to a digital media form, with the help of certain graphics and elements i used. During the course of filming the i took photos of the artist that i wanted to use for my ancillary production work. I applied soft graphic to transform the image and make it suitable for the digipak and advertisement. I also used certain graphics to over lap pattern to make the images link together.
Graphics and element i used to help me create my ideas from paper to digital image.

Q4) What have you learned from your audience feedback?

+
We have watched our music video at our local cinema "The Screen On The Green". I enjoyed the applause we got when people watched our video and made me really excited.

Feedback: From the feedback I got from the audience I came across to few conclusions, somethings that could help me for my future videos. The clip above is the feedback i received it has positive along with negative feedback. The people that I interviewed for my video were the audience that I was aiming towards.
I've learnt that i shouldve used more shots to show locations and more shots of the artist, giving it a clearer idea of the surroundings. I also learnt that the transitions could've been better, and that the whole clip could of been more up to beat to fit the soundtrack perfectly, been told that the establishing shot was great as it allowed the audience to see the locations clearer.

Q3) How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
I have Used the Camcorder

We had a quick lesson on how to use the camcorder and learned how to use the special effects.
Final Cut Pro

We used the videos we had and edited using final cut pro to put and cut the videos we had.
To import videos press "File--Import--Files" once the file comes on you choose the videos you have.

After you choose the clips, you can drag them into the timeline to edit and insert music to improve your video.
I already knew how to use final cut pro before today, however it was still difficult to have the artist singing at the same part and at the same location. I have also learned that editing a movie and a music video were different and more difficult.
Power Point
I used powerpoint to to answer the questions for my evaluation.

Q2.
How effective is the combination of your main product (video) and ancillary text (digipak and advertisment) ?

Q1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dg_7TL5PAzA&feature=channel (unwritten – Natasha Bedingfield)
We looked at many other videos before chosing Unwritten as our main one, but we was influenced with the idea of going into an elevator and exiting in different locations made me think, "Yes this is the one".
Even though we wanted our video to be as much similar as the original we still had to make a few changes and it was not easy. We matched the elements of the location and the theme to the original.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlP89pMc3UM (Notting Hill, Ain't no sunshine)
We looked at Notting Hill clip and put all our ideas together and wanted to follow the same conventions of following the artist with a handheld camera. What amazed me in this video was the weather change as he walke's through the market.

Q1.
Watching the Notting Hill clip put our whole idea into prospective. We wanted our artist to simply walk in the music video and be connected to the words of the song. But by having her walking through a visual nice surrounding that mirrored the lyrics of the song. This idea came from the scene when Hugh Grant walked through a market place accompanied by music from by Bill Withers. What works well in this scene is the connection between the visual aspects, the editing/ camerawork and the lyrics of the song. They all fitted well with each other for example; the continuity editing and the tracking technique was very good. It made viewer's see past him just walking but made the audience look into his thoughts and other people life's in a time scale.
The original video by Natasha Bedingfeild was very hard to match but we wanted to keep the concept of the of video similar. We watched the original video and took elements from it e.g location types and main theme. We used close ups of our artist for an intimacy connection with the audience. Our artist changed costume twice in the video to help establish the different locations in the video. This follow the conventions of the genre. The original video helped me set the theme for my ancillary products. I watched over the videos and wanted a to go for a simple look. I chose the colour scheme from Natasha Bedingfeild video and came up with paisley floral pattern to cover the DigiPak and Advertisement.
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and convention of real media products?
The influences for our artist music video came from I should be so lucky Kylie Minogue, a scene from the film Notting Hill and the original Music video Unwritten Natasha Bedingfield. The whole visual aspect of each video/clip fit into ideas and thoughts we wanted to put across to the artist audience.
When planning the music video we watch Kylie's video for ideas that we could mimic by creating something new. The clothing and different location types made the video standout and memborable. And that's what we tried to achieve with our artist' video. Some of the camera work in Kylie's video wasn't good in all areas but there were many shots, which we lacked of. So we made sure the artist clothing was suitable for the genre and noticeable for the audience.
E.g at the start of the clip the audience see a pregnant women and towards the end the same women appears with her child. The idea of going through a journey was based off that one small link between growth over a short period of time.

Q. 4.
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
( I plan to answer this question by creating a sort film that consist of narrative voice over, images and clips from the music video.)
I went to watch my music video at the screen on the green. The response from the audience was amazing and the feedback was good also.
There was three point people constantly mentioned when i asked them "what did you think of my video?"
1. The use of the photo montage
2. Editing wasn't smooth
3. Using a wide angle lense.
One person said "i didn't understand the images at the interlude... it doesn't fit in the conventions of indie pop." * ( image of a person with a speech bubble above their head + quote )
Others said the Editing wasn't smooth, *( add 10 sec clip to show example )
The last quote stated " i you used a wide angle lense camera, your music video would have been easier to watch. "
From what people have said I've learned that my music video broke the conventions of an "stereotypical" indie/ pop video. By using the photo montage at the interlude of the song. If i were to make the music video again i would, take out the images and replace them with various shots. Also i would the editing sharper by cutting on the beat accurately, i would put in more shots throughout the coarse of the video. This will make the video enjoyable to watch and make viewer's feel more connected. * ( add images from the indie pop genre )
Planning Fonts, Colours and Layout
I'm considering this font style but it's curly to read.

This font is very nice but it hard to read however the style suits my theme.
I want my colours base around the clothing and setting of the music video. Choosing beige, pink and pink nude compliments each other well.

Evaluation Question 3
In the clip it states it is question 4, but in fact it is evaluation question 3.
"I have used the word transaction, what i meant was transition. "
Also i have used to photoshop elements 4.0 to do my digipak because while using photoshop there are set in layers in order to edit a specific item instead of editing the whole image.
I have also used a site called wordle to make a image of words, the words were feedbacks from students from our media class.

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
The Movie-Notting Hill (Ain't No sunshine when she gone scene)
When we were coming up with an idea for our music video we thought of season changing showing her journey so we looked at this clip from the movie Notting Hill and tried to illustrate this in our own music video. In the end we decided to show the change through the change of clothes and location.
Kylie Minogue- I should be so lucky
Kylie Minoque's song 'I should be so lucky' is a music video we looked at. We liked the way she moved across each scene easily changing her clothes. The way that it is edited was really good and we tried to make the editing in our music video as seamless.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dg_7TL5PAzA&ob=av2el
This is the original music video for Natasha Bedingfield-Unwritten.
When planning the music video we also looked at the original music video to see how the illustrated the lyrics. We took the whole going on a journey theme and tried to make it different, original.
These are the three different locations that we filmed at to show her journey.
In our music video we challenged the conventions of a typical indie/pop music video as we added the still images, but I feel that it worked well with our whole concept of following the artists on a journey and the still images near the end basically sumed up her journey.
2. How effective is the combination of your main product (video) and ancillary texts (digipak and advertisement)?
This is a animatic answering question number 2.
3.How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
DIGITAL CAMCORDER
When we were filming our music video we used a industry standard digital camcorder to film with which stored the clips on a memory card which made it easier to store our work and to transfer it unto the computer.
FINAL CUT PRO
In finalCut Pro I edited the clips that I filmed for my music video.
To import a clip or image into final cut pro you must first select 'File' and click on 'Import' and select 'Files'. This will open the folder with your clips and images.
After the folder opens then select the image or clip that you want to open.
Click the 'Choose' button after you have decided on the clip or image that you want to upload.
After the clips/images that you want have uploaded then you can drag them unto the timeline to edit it to the beat of your music so that the lip synch is in time.
These are some screenshots from the finished music video that was edited in final cut pro.
I found using Final cut pro quite interesting, and drew on the final cut pro editing that I learnt in AS to help me, but it was different from last year as I had to edit to the beat of the song. Although I found this difficult at first, I eventually got the hang it.
PHOTOSHOP
With photoshop I made my ancillary print products(digipak and my advertisement).
This is the original image that I chose to use as my front cover, but I didn't like that she was facing that direction so I selected the image and flipped it so that she was facing the other direction, as shown below.
To add the butterfly graphics to the image I selected a butterfly image using the magic wand tool on the tool bar and selected the part of the image I wanted and dragged it unto my front cover image.
I found using photoshop quite easy and enjoyed it very much discovering all the different types of things that you could do with the various editing tools.
This is the finished product, front cover of the digipak.
BLOGGER AND YOUTUBE
This is a animatic explaining how I used Blogger and YouTube.
ANIMATIC
After you have finished the powerpoint presenation go to 'File' and select 'Save'.
Name your powerpoint presentation and save it as a powerpoint file first.
Do the same thing, go to 'File' and select 'Save' and then go to format and select 'Move (.mov)' and then click 'Save' and the powerpoint presentation will then save as a movie, this will then turn it into an animatic.

4. What have you learned from your audience feedback?
This animatic is about the audience feedback which I got from my music video and what I learned from it.
This is a word cloud that I made to illustrate the way I was feeling when I was watching our music video at the 'The Screen' cinema.
We watched our music videos at a local cinema near to our college and it was a very exciting experience. I thoroughly enjoyed watching everyone else's music videos and seeing how other people reacted to my music video. The whole experience, from filming, editing to making the ancillary products was fun, I enjoy each aspect as I got the opportunity to learn more about the music industry, and now I know how to make a music video, digipak and advertisement poster. If I had the opportunity to make the music video over again I would add another location, edit the clips together better and replace the still images and kept with the filming clips throughout the whole video.
